The ECOWAS Resident Representative, Ambassador Ngozi Ukaeje, has lauded Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, for his leadership in advancing regional peace and stability.

The commendation came during Ambassador Ukaeje’s official visit to Nigerian troops of NIGCON 4 in Guinea-Bissau, following their successful rotation from NIGCOY 3 ahead of crucial national elections.
Ambassador Ukaeje praised General Musa’s pivotal role in facilitating the
deployment of Nigerian peacekeepers, highlighting Nigeria’s leadership in
regional stabilization efforts. “I am proud of the Chief of Defence Staff and
his unwavering support. I am equally pleased to interact with our gallant
troops of NIGCON 4, as a fellow Nigerian,” she said.
She urged the peacekeepers to uphold
discipline and professionalism, emphasizing that their conduct would reflect on
both Nigeria and ECOWAS. With Guinea-Bissau preparing for presidential and
parliamentary elections, she advised the troops to remain neutral, vigilant,
and committed to their stabilization mandate.
“Your actions will speak louder than
your words. Let your conduct reflect your mission of stabilization support and
your commitment to peace,” Ambassador Ukaeje added.
During the visit, the ECOWAS envoy
also engaged the Ghanaian Contingent (GHANCOY 4), welcoming their newly
deployed troops after a seamless rotation with GHANCOY 3. She commended their
professionalism and reminded them of the sensitive nature of their duties
during the election period.
